Bio: About Me:
I am an Associate Broker with Dawson Ford Garbee & Co., Realtors in Altavista, Virginia. I am a native and life long resident of Altavista and have been a full time real estate professional serving the Altavista area and surrounding communities since 1997.
I have been married for twenty years and have two beautiful children. I attended school in Altavista graduating from Altavista High School (now Altavista Combined School) in 1988. I received a diploma in Medical Office Assisting in 1991 from Phillips Business College. Coinciding with my education at Phillips Business College, I developed a strong desire to volunteer in my community so I joined my local rescue squad and began taking the course to become an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician). I received my EMT Certification in 1990. After working with patients, I wanted to advance my skills in order to better assist people in medical emergency situations and subsequently became an EMT-Shock Trauma Technician in 1992 and EMT-Cardiac Technician (now referred to as EMT-Intermediate) in 1993.
In 1991 after completing my diploma program at Phillips Business College, I began my career working for Dr. Ralph C. Slusher in Altavista, Virginia. In 1995 after my husband had received his real estate license, I developed an interest in the real estate industry. I decided to make the leap from the medical field over to real estate sales. I initially took the Principals of Real Estate Course through Central Virginia Community College and became licensed as a Real Estate Sales Associate in 1997. In 2003 I decided that I wanted to expand my education in the real estate field and began pursuing all relevant courses necessary to meet educational requirements for becoming a real estate broker through Mosley-Flint Real Estate Academy. In 2005 I completed brokerage courses and became licensed as a Real Estate Broker. In 2008 I also became licensed as a Real Estate Course Instructor.
Transitioning my career into the real estate field was a great move for me at a personal level. I greatly enjoy my work. It is a very rewarding experience assisting my clients in making their dreams of home ownership become a reality. I use my experience, attention to details, technology, and continuous training as a foundation for my business in addition to living and working by the Code of Ethics to give clients the professional level of real estate service they deserve.

Awards: I was named the 2007 'Best Real Estate Agent' through the Altavista Journal Annual Reader's Choice Awards.
Community: I have been a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate for Altavista EMS since 1990 and served on the 2007 VAVRS (Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads) Advance Life Support 5th place State Championship Team. I have served in the capacities as membership committee chairperson, Vice President, Sergeant, dive team captain, CPR instructor, and numerous other committees to assist in the progression of emergency medical services in the Altavista EMS Service area.

Hope responded to the call of duty when we moved from our hometown of Altavista, Virginia to start a new life in the Southwestern part of the state. We moved to Marion, Virginia to start a restaurant and enlisted Hope's help. She explained to us that that was out of her normal service area and that she would be happy to refer us to an agent who was familiar with the area. We were reluctant to work with anyone else because we know her work ethic from living in Altavista. We explained to her that we really wanted her to be our agent and that we trusted her professional judgment. Upon our strong insistence, she followed us to Southwestern Virginia to assist us.
